Umbrella Days End When The Storm Does
Hi Crafting Friend,
Spring is coming and with it, in most places, rainstorms. That was what inspired my card this week. The Online Exclusive Umbrella Days Bundle is adorable and perfect to encourage someone. There are lots of steps, but it's really not a difficult card to make. Take a look and let me know what you think.
CARD BASE:
- Basic Gray cardstock - 8 1/2" X 5 1/2" scored folded and burnished at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8" on the long side to form a gatefold.
- Basic White cardstock - 4" X 5 1/4" Adhere inside the card with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
DIE-CUTTING:
- Smoky Slate cardstock -
- Die-cut clouds and puddles.
- Ink the edges of the clouds with a sponge dauber and Smoky Slate ink.
- Basic White cardstock -
- Stamp a sun using Crushed Curry ink and fussy-cut it. I used the sun stamp from the retired Sale-A-Bration set Documenting The Day.
- Stamp the sentiment and the child holding the umbrella using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Trim the sentiment to 2 3/8" X 7/8" and adhere to a 2 5/8" X 1 1/8" piece of Basic Gray cardstock.
- Color the child with Blends. I used Pumpkin Pie for the raincoat, Blueberry Bushel for the pants, Petal Pink for the hands, Mossy Meadow for the umbrella top and Pecan Pie for the umbrella handle.
- Die-cut the clouds again.
- Crumb Cake cardstock -
- Die-cut the umbrella handle and the dog. Color the dog's paws, tail and ears with Pecan Pie Blends.
- Garden Green cardstock -
- Die-cut the grass from a 1/2" strip, flip the top part so all the jagged edges face the same direction. Adhere together the pieces, staggering them to form the grass.
- To Market DSP -
- Die-cut the dog coat from the Blackberry Bliss plaid print and adhere to the dog.
- Die-cut 2 umbrella tops from the Garden Green dot print. Adhere 1 to the umbrella the child is holding and the other to a piece of Basic White, then fussy cut it out. Adhere the umbrella handle to it.
- Die-cut 2 pairs of small rain boots from the Pumpkin Pie dot print and adhere 1 pair to the child.
CARD FRONT:
- Gray Granite cardstock layer -
- 4" X 5 1/4" Stamp raindrops about 3/4" from the top randomly to the bottom using Smoky Slate ink.
- If desired, use a sponge dauber to ink the edges with the same ink.
- Adhere to the left side of the gatefold, leaving an even border on the left side, top and bottom.
- Adhere the Smoky Slate clouds to the card front with Dimensionals at the top of the raindrops.
- Adhere the puddles to the bottom of the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
- Adhere the child and dog, each standing in a puddle, with Dimensionals.
- Adhere the sentiment just above the center of the card with Dimensionals.
- Balmy Blue cardstock layer - 4" X 5 1/4"
- Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, adhere the sun in upper right corner, large white cloud to the left of it and small white cloud slightly below and to the left of it.
- Adhere the grass to the bottom
- Adhere the umbrella and the rainboots in the grass.
- Adhere the Balmy Blue cardstock layer to the right side of the gatefold, leaving an equal border on the right side, top & bottom, also making sure it is completely under the layer on the card front.
