My vacation - The 55 Year Mission Tour (Star Trek) Convention

 Hi Stamping Friend,

 I just spent a week in Las Vegas at Creation Entertainment's 55-Year Mission Tour Convention  (formerly known as Star Trek Las Vegas). Since Star Trek is another passion of mine, I thought I'd tell you about it instead of posting a project. I hope you don't mind indulging me.

Last year's convention was postponed twice and eventually cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the ticket carried over to this year.

I was excited to go, but at the same time a bit concerned about going because the delta variant of the virus is spreading. I have been fully vaccinated for a few months and the state of Nevada is requiring masks for everyone inside regardless of vaccination status. They were also requiring a negative COVID test at registration for unvaccinated people as well as a retest on site on Friday morning for those who arrived before Thursday. With all these precautions in place, I felt safe in attending. 

As the convention neared, I noticed that celebrity guests were cancelling left & right and I began to wonder if it was going to be any fun. I need not have given it a thought. Creation really did a great job of rearranging the programming and getting some last minute guests to replace those who cancelled.

The Roddenberries were the House Band, they played intro and exit music as guests arrived and left the stage during the week. They also played a concert on the Roddenberry Stage in Jimmy's Place, the pub/eatery/hangout that Creation Entertainment set up for the convention. Chase Masterson (Leeta - DS9) also sang there for happy hour every night.

Hello Hills of Tuscany Fun Fold Card

 Hi Crafting Friend, Welcome to 2024, the new Mini Catalog and the Sale-A-Bration Brochure. This Spring Mini catalog is always my favorite, especially when you add the benefits of Sale-A-Bration to it. There are so many adorable stamp sets, dies, DSPs and other goodies! Do you like this catalog as much as I do?  Today's card uses the Hills of Tuscany stamp set. The images were stamped directly onto the DSP, (house - white craft ink, roof - Cherry Cobbler, trees and sentiment - Shaded Spruce) the house was then heat embossed with white embossing powder. The card base is Shaded Spruce cut to 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 and scored on the long side at 2 3/4 and 4 1/4. Fold it in half and then fold the card front back as shown in the photos below.  The Gorgeous Grape layers are 1 7/8 X 5 1/4 for the front and inside left; and 4 X 5 1/4 for the right side.  Cut a 1 inch strip off the top of the DSP to use on another project, then cut 2 pieces, each 1 3/4 wide from the left side (the trees that you sta

Grassy Grove Clean & Simple Card

 Hi Crafting Friend, This card was inspired by a couple of cards I saw on the Facebook Clean & Simple Cardmaking page.  (by Tracey Agli & Darla Anderson Welch) They were both mostly white with some color blending and minor stamping behind the tree dies they used. I thought of these stamps & dies when I saw them.  The card base is 8.5 X 5.5 scored on the long side at 4.25 then folded and burnished to lay flat. The doe and fawn were each die-cut twice, once with Pecan Pie and once with Basic Black then layered together with the black in the front. Place black mini dimensionals as shown in the photo below.  The "moon" is a 1 inch punched Lemon Lolly circle.  The grove of trees was also die-cut twice, once on a 4 X 5.25 piece of Early Eapresso, the second on a piece of Early Espresso just barely bigger than the die itself. The smaller die-cut was off set behind the larger, then Multipurpose Liquid Glue was used at the bottom edge of the smaller die-cut to secure them

Hello Happy Sea Turtle Card

 Hi Stamping Friend, The card I have for you this week is the second of three I designed for the swap using products from the new January-April 2023 Mini catalog and the Sale-A-Bration brochure. I paired the Sea Turtle and Happy Labels stamp sets from the mini catalog with Delicate Edges dies and Texture Chic DSP from the annual catalog. To me they seem made for each other.  This card is really quite simple if you have the basic tools. The DSP makes a perfect background. The turtle is fussy cut, the "seaweed" is die-cut. I gave the seaweed & turtle some dimension by using my bone folder to add some curl to the paper. The turtle is popped up with dimensionals, the seaweed is adhered with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, but I played with it, making sure some areas were slightly raised off the paper so it looks like it could be moving in the water.
