Birds Sending Thanks in the Winterly Tree Tops
Hi Crafting Friend,
I love today's card! Do you want to know why? I'm gonna tell you whether you want to or not, LOL. Its the colorful strips that are weaved together in the upper left corner. They are 1/4" wide, cut down from 1/2" wide strips that were leftover from cutting card layers. I know they are useful for sentiments, but I have a lot of them in many colors so finding a new way to use them is always great! I had a bit of trouble trying to keep them straight when adhering them to the card, but that's OK, it was my first attempt. It will get easier as I use this technique for other cards.
The card base is Thick Basic White, 8 1/2" X 5 1/2" scored, folded and burnished at 4 1/4" on the long side. The inside of the card is blank, but can always be stamped.
The 1/4" strips are Real Red, Pecan Pie, Daffodil Delight, and Misty Moonlight.
The sentiment is stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Basic White cardstock and die-cut using the Deckled circles dies, then layered/adhered on Daffodil Delight cardstock cut with the next larger size die from the same set. It is adhered to the card front with Dimensionals.
The birds can be done two ways, one way is to use versamark, heat emboss with black embossing powder, then color with Stampin' Write Markers and go over it with a Blending pen to blend the colors a bit. They They were die-cut and adhered to the card front with Dimensionals. That's the technique I used. It worked well enough, but it may have looked better using Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the birds and color them with Stampin' Blends instead. (Except for the branch the birds are sitting on, it was colored with Early Espresso and there is no Blend combo in that color.) I have two product lists linked below, one for each technique. Each of them has the stamps & dies listed separately and as a bundle. They both also have the colored cardstocks that were used, but the whole idea is for you to use up your scraps, so by all means use what you have on hand! You can decide which list and technique you would prefer to use.
