Autumn In Michigan

Hi Stamping Friend,
Back in May (on the day after our 43 wedding anniversary) my husband lost his childhood best friend. They met when they were about 10 years old and were friends for over 50 years. Thankfully, Brian was able to make it to Michigan and spend an afternoon with him a few days before he died.
For many years Brian's friend & his wife took a trip up to Northern Michigan in October. His widow wanted to take make the trip up to Northern Michigan at their favorite time of year and we told her we would accompany her. We hopped on a red-eye the night of the 7th and  arrived in Michigan early on the morning of the 8th. It was cloudy and supposed to be cold & rainy the entire time we were there, but it wasn't. We had rain that first day while we drove up North, but the next couple of days were perfect Fall weather, with temps in the mid to high 70's. We spent Saturday driving through a State Park and strolling in the woods with the leaves putting on their show of changing colors all around us. It wasn't quite peak season yet, but it was beautiful!!
We had lunch in a cute little restaurant in Onaway, then went back to the motel and sat outside talking until it was time to go to dinner. After dinner we got a bottle of wine and sat outside talking into the night. I'm so glad we got to go spend time with her to reminisce and see the changing of the seasons, something we don't really get here in the desert.
